The Duke is a pub and restaurant based in Islington, located just behind Essex road, on the residential St Peters Street.
We’ve been certified by the Soil Association since it opened in 1998, meaning all of our food has been organic for 25 years. We serve the freshest seasonal ingredients sourced from local organic farmers and growers. Drinks are also thoughtfully sourced according to our sustainability criteria.
When our first founder Geetie Singh married Guy Watson in 2014, The Duke had a brief stint as a Riverford flagship from 2015 - 2018 (and we still get some of our organic veg and dairy from them too), before The Culpeper Family Hospitality Group acquired The Duke officially from the pair in October 2019, after admiring us from afar.
We aim to provide heartfelt hospitality and great food, all whilst being a genuinely sustainable business in all aspects. Our approach is collaborative, with the team and with our guests. Having a positive impact on our community and the environment has been at the core of our business from the very beginning and we consistently review our practices to be the best we can be.
We are proud to have the highest accreditation of 3* from the Sustainable Restaurant Association.
